A Librarian’s Child: My 15 month old’s book collection

When I first started reading to Genevieve she didn’t like it. She expressed this by hitting the book, pushing it away, or knocking it out of my hands. I was so afraid I was going to have a child that hated to read. A librarian with a child who doesn’t like to read?!

Thankfully, she now loves books! She wants us to read to her all the time! She toddles over with a book and climbs in your lap when she wants you to read. It’s so adorable! And when she wants something, she is determined! Its do funny to watch her attempt to get in your lap when you aren’t sitting where she can climb up or if you are standing. I don’t really know how to describe it, but she still tries to get in your lap when you are standing. If something else is in your lap she just plows through it!

Of course her favorites run I’m cycles and when she starts loving a book you may read it back to back 10 times!

We mainly read board books, because she gets board with the number of words on a page in the picture books. Some board books have too many words too. She generally prefers those with at most 2 sentences on a page (1 sentence is better).

Pictured below is her current book collection, minus the few books at Meme’s and ‘That is Not My Mermaid,” which is MIA.

Her current favorites are:

Twinkle Toes
Baby Bear, Baby Bear, What do You See?
The Farmer in the Dell
Where is Love, Biscuit?
That is Not My Mermaid
Sweet Child of Mine

Hilariously she is also obsessed with the tiny little doll sized book that came with her Baby Stella doll. Its about 2″ and has about 4 pages, each with the picture of an animal and its name. She wants us to read it all the time!
