Learning to eat with a spoon

Genevieve first ate with a spoon the week of her first birthday.  She just picked up a spoon and started eating.  She ate with a spoon for about 4 days and after that she refused to eat with one anymore.  Not only would she not attempt to eat with a spoon anymore, but she would not longer allow me to feed her with a spoon anymore either!

Feeding a toddler gets really tricky when you cant feed them anything that isnt solid finger food. Especially if you are avoiding processed foods and snacks and the child in question will not eat a vegetable unless it is a green bean or potato!

She decided to let me start feeding her with a spoon again a few months ago and 2 weeks ago she decided that she was ready to tackle using a spoon again herself.

At Cracker Barrel, she ate 1 1/2 bowls of grits like a champ!  This picture was taken two weeks ago and was only the second or third time she had tried eating with a spoon on her own.

I even have a video of her gusto!

Then this happened a few days later while I was cooking dinner…

Learning to eat with a spoon while liking to pretend everything is a hairbrush, hat, or phone. - she managed to get this messy on about 30 seconds while I was stirring something on the stove. #17monthsold #learningcurve #toddlermeals #eatingwithaspoon #milestones #babymilestones #blog | January 30, 2016 at 04:53PM
